Publication of the schedule for the 2026 SCC and SRC: DSO elections

In accordance with paragraph 6 of the Institutional Rules on Student Governance (2025), the following schedule for the 2026 SCC and SRC: DSO election is hereby published (on 04 May 2026) to the student community of the North-West University. Students are requested to familiarize themselves with the content thereof, taking note of the relevant dates indicated for each phase of the process.

Electoral communication and access to your MyNWU email address

Communication and notices relating to the SCC and SRC: DSO Election will be sent to your MyNWU email address [12345678@mynwu.ac.za]. This includes the voter credentials needed by students to cast their votes. NO election related correspondence will be sent to students via Gmail, Yahoo or other email service providers.
 

Students are therefore reminded to ensure that they have access to the MyNWU email address.

Nomination of candidates for election to the SCCs and SRC: DSO

In accordance with paragraph 9.1 and 9.2 of the Institutional Rules on Student Governance, the nomination process for the election of the Students’ Campus Councils [SCCs] and SRC: Distance Students’ Officer [SRC: DSO] commenced on 13 July 2026. The nomination process will conclude on 17 July 2026 at 15:00. Students who are eligible to participate in the process must submit nominations via the relevant nomination form links below.

No late nomination will be considered

Please note:

  • Students who have successfully submitted a nomination form will receive an email confirming their submission from QuestionPro Survey [survey@qp-mail.com]. The content of the confirmation email will refer to the relevant campus [SCC] or distance learning environment [SRC:DSO] for which the nomination was submitted.

  • The list of candidates deemed eligible and not-eligible for election will be published in accordance with the IRSG, which will include the list of students who had supported the nominations.

  • Students submitting nominations are requested to first familiarize themselves with the eligibility criteria contained in paragraphs 7 of the IRSG before proceeding to submit a nomination.

Student Support Group Registration

In accordance with paragraph 10.5 of the Institutional Rules on Student Governance, students are invited to register student support groups as part of the SCC and SRC:DSO electoral process. Registrations for support groups commenced on 13 July 2026, and will conclude on 23 July 2026 at 15:00.

Student support groups must complete the template provided below and submit via the link published below.

Enquiries pertaining to the process must be directed to the Independent Students’ Electoral Commission (ISEC) via email: ISEC@nwu.ac.za.

PLEASE NOTE: support groups are required to provide the tentative list of possible candidates they wish to support as part of the electoral process. Upon the finalisation of the final list of candidates, support groups will have an opportunity to finalise the list of candidates they will support during the campaigning process.

Self-verification for SCC and SRC: DSO nomination process

PLEASE NOTE: the self-verification process does not result in the submission of a nomination form. By completing the self-verification, you are verifying whether you are included to the list of students who form part of the nominators’ roll – i.e., those who satisfy the criteria to participate in the nomination process. Nominations for candidates to be elected to the SCC or the SRC:DSO must be submitted via the above online nomination forms.

In accordance with paragraph 8.1 of the Institutional Rules on Student Governance, a list of students who are eligible to participate in the nomination process for the election of the Students’ Campus Councils and SRC: Distance Students’ Officer, is hereby published via the self-verification tools below. Students can determine whether they are eligible to participate in the nomination process by clicking on the button for their specific campus or distance learning environment, thereafter, entering their student number to receive the outcome. Enquiries pertaining to the process must be directed to the Independent Students’ Electoral Commission (ISEC) via email: isec@nwu.ac.za.
