  2. Facilities

  • The trophy cabinet is the first thing you see when you enter the residence. It is our pride and that is why our achievements and traditions are displayed in it.
  • The recreation hall: The brain of the residence, is mainly used for residence and internal committee meetings, various sports and cultural activities (such as table tennis, sêr and debating), and for liaison activities with women's residences so that we can sokkie.
  • The clubhouse, Eagle's Nest, is the heart of Veritas Men's Residence. It is here where friends meet to get away from the busy academic schedule to watch sports, participate in activities with women's residences and to enjoy internal residence activities such as chicken roasting and Father & Son Weekend. The clubhouse is also the home of Veritas's unique beer, Eagle's Ale.
  • The square is an open area which forms the connecting passage between the recreation hall and the clubhouse. The square has several braais and benches and therefore it is also used for activities with women's residences as well as internal residence activities such as Father & Son Weekend and chicken roasting day.
  • There is a laundry room on each of the four floors of the residence, with the following amenities: a washing machine, tumble dryer, large sink, ironing boards and a clothesline.
  • There is a kitchen on each of the seven corridors in the residence, with the following amenities: a double sink, kitchen cupboards for storage, a water filter and a "hydro-boil" for boiling water.
  • Veritas has a computer room containing seven computers with full internet access. All residents have access and the computers are always available to use.
  • The prayer room is a place where residents can rest and do Bible study, and also where cell groups meet every week for fellowship.
  • On each of Veritas's seven corridors there is a corridor lounge where the residents of the various corridors gather to relax and socialise. Each lounge has an LCD TV with full DStv package, a dartboard and benches. The tuck shop, Shongololo Shop, is run by the residents of Veritas and opens weekly for a delicacy and a sandwich in the comfort of our residence.
  • The music room is not only home to our beloved Grietjie (the piano), but is also a place where any resident can practise his instrument without disturbing the rest of the residents.
  • The house committee and archives room is a place where Veritas can live out its rich history and also relive the good old times.
