  2. Facilities

Rooms

Patria has double rooms for first- and second years, and single rooms for third years and older. All rooms are furnished with a bed, closet, desk, chair and enough storage space. Every room is also equipped with an internet jack, (free, uncapped internet access), power connectors, blinds and a heater.

Other facilities

The Clubhouse, also known as Club Albatross, is the heart of Patria’s social life. This is where all Patrians come together on Friday nights for the man of the match announcements for all the sport that took place during the week. The club house is also used for internal and external socials with other ladies' residences.

The atmosphere in the clubhouse is always sociable and everyone sings along. In between all the spirit, traditions and tons of memorabilia on the walls one cannot help getting nostalgic. The club house also offers two pool tables, a foosball table and darts for everyone to enjoy. The courtyard is right next to the club house. Here fires are regularly lit at one of the 4 braai facilities which are available to every Patrian, which always leads to a sociable atmosphere.

The Square is also used in socials; this does not mean that it is ever abandoned. Patria also has outside braai facilities, with a great grass pitch perfect for backyard sport. Patria has a TV room on every corridor, with the full DSTV package. Patria has enough showers, baths, toilets and basins to wash comfortably. These facilities are always in top-notch condition. Each floor in the residence has two kitchens and a laundry room. Each kitchen has a sink and ample working space. Residents must bring their own kitchen appliances. Boiling water as well as cold water is available in the kitchens at all times. The laundry rooms are equipped with a washing machine, tumble drier and a large sink. The Prayer room is a room where every Patrian goes to be quiet and talk to God. The room is available for use 24 hours a day and is also used for Bible study groups.

The computer lab has several PC’s with free internet access. The music room is equipped with a piano, keyboard, drums and trophy cabinet, it is also quite soundproof.
