Facilities

  1. Vergeet-My-Nie
  2. Facilities

Vergeet-My-Nie has 83 single rooms and 84 double rooms which house the 251 residents. In your first and second year, you share a room with a roommate. The rooms are furnished with two beds and mattresses, two double-door closets, two desks with chairs, a bulletin board, two towel rails, a heater for the cold and two internet points. There are also blinds in front of the windows. From your third year onwards, you will be eligible for a single room, depending on your residence participation and your academic performance. The single rooms are all furnished with a bed and a mattress, a double-door closet, a desk with a chair, a bulletin board, a towel railing, a heater, an internet outlet, and blinds for the window.

Each hallway is equipped with two bathrooms, one per level. The bathrooms on the double rooms side are equipped with 2 toilets, 3 showers, 4 sinks and 1 bath. The bathrooms on the single rooms side each have 1 toilet, 1 shower, 1 bath and 3 sinks.  In each hallway is an open plan kitchen and a living room area. Each kitchen has a water purifier faucet and a double sink. There is also a workstation where you can cook, with power points on the wall. The kitchen and living room are shared by the 42 girls staying in the same hallway. The residence has 4 washrooms – 2 in each block. Each laundry room has 3 washing machines, 3 tumble dryers, 3 ironing points and several drying racks. The residence also has a large sitting room and a recreation hall. The recreation hall has a piano and the sitting room has a television with DSTV.

The residence is also equipped with a computer room. This room has quite a few internet points. All residents of Vergeet-My-Nie are allowed to use this room whenever they need.

Our residence is also unique because of the fact that Vergeet-My-Nie has their own clubhouse. We are lucky to be one of the few ladies residences with a clubhouse. Furthermore, this residence is also fortunate enough to have an outdoor patio, equipped with 3 “braai” stations and a circular fire pit.
