The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) invites unemployed individuals / students interested in the local government to apply for the Bursary
Funding Window in support of the LGSETA Annual Performance Plan targets for 2025/2026.
Who can apply?
- South African students and those with permanent residence status.
- University Students, Universities of Technology Students, and TVET Colleges students or Grade 12 learners who have been accepted in the respective institutions for the specific qualifications relevant to the local government sector.
- Students who are accepted or received provisional acceptance for a course/qualification that is in line with local government sector.
- Please refer to the list of qualifications that will be supported for the bursary on the LGSETA website.
- Only students that are studying full time will be funded.

- Click Services tab.

Compensation fund external bursary scheme 2026 Academic Year
The Compensation Fund Invites unemployed COID beneficiaries with a permanent disablement (PWD), their dependents and the dependents of fatally injured employees to apply for the Compensation Fund External Bursary opportunity. The applicants must have been accepted at a recognised Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Community Education and Training (CET) College or Higher Education Institution (HEI). If you do not receive any response from the Compensation Fund within two months after submitting your application, consider your application (as likely) unsuccessful.
The bursary coverage: Tuition fees, Prescribed Study Material, Monthly Stipend and Accommodation.
The award is renewable every year – for the duration of the study programme, depending on the availability of funds and academic performance.
Target Group
- COID beneficiaries with a permanent disablement ( Within the Working-age)
- Dependents of COID beneficiaries with a permanent disablement and dependents of fatally injured employees (17 – 35 years)
Learning Programmes/ Qualifications
- Programmes that will enable beneficiaries to be reintegrated into the workplace or become self-employed
- Recommended qualifications are listed on page 4 of the application form

- Public TVET, CET, HEI
Application Deadline
- The bursary is open throughout the 2026 academic year; however, applicants are encouraged to send their applications on/before the 31 March 2026
Eligibility requirements:
- Fully completed application form
- COID Pension number / Claim number
- Certified copies of parent(s) or guardian(s) identity document/death certificate (applicable to dependents)
- Identity document of the applicant
- Proof of acceptance from a public Post School Education and Training (PSET) institution
- Students must be enrolled to study on a full-time basis. Only under exceptional circumstances students with disabilities shall be allowed to study part-time
- Certification and verification of physical disability by a Health Care Professional or Disability Support Office / WCL forms (Final medical report)

Unemployed COID beneficiaries with a permanent disability and their dependents are not restricted to the listed qualifications. In addition, COID beneficiaries with a permanent disability struggling to gain access to training institutions due to the level of education and other barriers can contact our offices for organised Vocational Skills Programmes/Qualifications.

Clicks Foundation Bursary advert 2026
- The Clicks Foundation will allocate 100 bursaries annually to students completing academic studies at tertiary institutions in South Africa.
- 80 bursaries to be allocated to BPharm. students
- 20 bursaries to be allocated to Commercial students in study fields related to Data/Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics and Digital Marketing.
- A R5000 allowance to be allocated to each recipient for prescribed books.
- Bursaries to be allocated to students at 2nd and 3rd year of study.
- Bursary allocation will cover cost for tuition, examination and prescribed books. The bursary will not cover any courses which the student has failed or study year which they have to repeat.
- New students must meet the average minimum requirement of above 65%.
- Preference to be given to the following tertiary institutions: ▪ University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Western Cape (UWC), University of Stellenbosch (US), Rhodes, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN), University of Johannesburg (UJ), University of Limpopo (UL) and Sefako Makgatho University (SMU)

Standard Bank is offering students an opportunity to get a Student Loan Without Surety – meaning you do not require a guardian or parent to be able to take up this loan. We understand that it may be stressful looking for funding, and that is why you need a bank that backs you.
Minimum Criteria
- You must be a South African citizen.
- Your Gross Household Income must be less than R600 000 per annum.
- 3rd Year students and upwards within Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic, Commerce, Health Sciences and 5th Year students in Medicine.
- Open to existing Standard Bank Transactional Account holders. You may apply for one using our digital and other banking channels if you don’t have one
- Study at one of our participating universities
How does it work?
- The loan maximum is R120 000 per annum, which can be used to cover tuition, accommodation, books and study equipment.
- There is no expectation of repayment on the loan while you are studying. However, you will be expected to start repaying the loan six months after completing your studies or as soon as you secure employment. Of course, it will be to your advantage to reduce your balance by making some payments while studying.
- Monthly interest and service fees will be charged from the loan’s inception and will be added to the outstanding balance.
- This loan can cover your existing university student debt up to R80 000 for each previous year that may be preventing you from completing your studies
- Competitive interest rates apply.
