NWU alumnus rates high in the investment banking industry
Nkateko Khoza, investment banking entrepreneur and chief executive officer at Leza Private Equity, credits the North-West University for the solid foundation that set him on course to be one of the rising figures in his industry, especially in emerging companies.
“The BCom degree I completed in 2010 at the NWU has equipped me with basic knowledge in financial management, risk management, investment management and strategic management,” says Nkateko.
He graduated with a BCom in Economics and Risk Management from the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark in 2010. He also has an honours degree in Financial Management from Rhodes University and an MBA from Wits University.
His primary focus as an investment banker is investments in emerging companies, investment banking, property asset management and the engineering sector.
Still falling in the youth category, Nkateko has already been CEO at Nessa Engineering Africa, Rapx Engineering and LH Davhuli Technologies (Pty) Ltd, and a sales executive at Oracle Corporation.
To date, Nkateko has been involved in the establishment of several start-up ventures, most notably Ivanta, which operates in several countries across the African continent. He also serves on the executive boards of several companies.
He says he still has good memories of the Vanderbijlpark Campus. “The campus is beautiful and unique, and I will never forget the ducks.”
Nkateko attributes his success to hard work and a good support structure.
Always ready to invest in his career, Nkateko sees himself as leading South Africa’s largest ever IPO in the not too distant future.
