Know Your Application Status
Has your application status just changed? You might be wondering: What does it actually mean?
Here is an explanation for each status you may encounter:
Status |
What it means |
Application Started |
You began your application but haven’t submitted it yet. No selection can happen until you submit it. Be sure to check the programme-specific deadline on the NWU website. |
Application Submitted |
You’ve submitted your application successfully. You can no longer make changes to it.

Application Verified |
Your documents have been checked and sent to the selection committee for review. |
Conditional Offer |
You meet most of the requirements, but some conditions (like final results or documents) still need to be met. |
Final Offer |
You’ve met all academic conditions, and your final offer has been issued. |
Unsuccessful |
Unfortunately, your application was not successful for the current academic year. |
Conditional Offer Accepted |
You’ve accepted the conditional offer and understand that some conditions are still pending. This is not yet a final offer. |
Conditional Offer Declined |
You declined the conditional offer. Your application for this year is now closed. |
Final Offer Accepted |
You accepted the final offer and will now be granted access to the Student Portal. |
Final Offer Declined |
You declined the final offer. Your application for this year is now closed. |
Registration Ready |
You’ve been fully admitted! Log into the Student Portal to start your registration. |
You can track the progress of your application by logging into the NWU application portal. Simply use your email address and password to access your application profile. Be sure to check regularly for updates regarding your status.
Please note: Due to specific capacity constraints, the University reserves the right to select candidates for admission to certain fields of study. This means that meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance into these programmes. Because of limited capacity and high demand for specific fields, selection will be based on your final Grade 12 results.
